With a new year landing square in our lap we couldn’t have a site dedicated to sports in Lovington without paying homage to the city’s hometown heroes the Lovington Wildcat football team who have taken state championship victory for seventeen years, including the honor in 2010.Following is a complete list of the years the Wildcats took home the championship as well as the records and scores of the game that clinched the deal for the year.

It’s worth noting that the Wildcats played in the state championships six years in addition to the above where they finished in the number two spot still an amazing accomplishment by this Class AAA team!Hometown boy Brian Urlacher (middle linebacker for the Chicago Bears) must be especially proud of his alma mater when he reminisces on his 14-0 season of 1995 and sees their continued forward momentum.
