Full story
Before you get all hunkered down for the winter with no real training plans on the horizon and possibly turn into a bundle of muscle-mush, why not mark down the New Mexico/Texas Challenge Road Race on your calendar for April 24 and set your goal to train this winter. Sponsored by the Lea County Museum here in Lovington (as well as the West Texas Running Club in Lubbock and the Western Heritage Museum in Hobbs), the race will have three courses: a 5K, a 10K, and a Half Marathon. So get your running shoes on and your feet in gear to hit some of the area’s great local trails so you can be conditioned in time for the spring event. If you’re not a racing fiend, then you should still plan on attending the event since there’s also an exposition for sports gear and clothing for hikers and cyclers (as well as runners) on Saturday, April 23rd. This is one event meant to be inked in on your calendar to stave off the winter doldrums and keep you focused on peak sports fitness all year.
